Janann Dawkins

Chalk clouds scrawl the starlit black,
the dust of heat and space, the galaxies
puffed into clusters. Relation: Earth
is a pencil head, nub of meaning, less
than the grain that orbits it. A meteor,
graver than its neighbors, swerves:
it means to pock, it moves unanswered.
Apocalyptic sandstorms skirt the cirrus;
remains, elliptic.

Janann Dawkins’ work has appeared in publications such as Existere & Ouroboros Review & soon features in The Flea, Two Review, and Blue Fifth Review, among others. In 2008, Leadfoot Press published her chapbook Micropleasure. Twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize, she manages the eclectic journal Third Wednesday in Ann Arbor, MI.
